Dentures. They can seem to be both a blessing and a curse at times. They can hide your embarrassment of tooth loss; but sometimes they seem to force you to have a difficult time chewing or feel self-conscious when you’re around friends and family. But it doesn’t have to be that way, anymore.
Luckily, we have solutions for your problems at Eugene Family Dental. Whether you need dentures for the first time, or need new dentures because your old ones don’t fit, we can help you out at our Eugene, OR office.
Selecting the Best Dentures for You
Traditional dentures rest in your mouth; held in place by the power of suction. But they aren’t the only type of denture we set you up with. We also offer partial dentures which secure to your natural teeth; and implant-supported dentures which always stay in place. In today’s blog post, we’re going to tell you more about your options for dentures.
If you’ve decided that you want dentures, there’s a few steps to the process. First you visit our office and we take measurements and impressions of your mouth. That process allows to ensure that your new dentures will be a perfect fit. After we have completed that process, the impressions are set out to a dental lab.
If you’re in need of full dentures, we will provide you with a set of temporary dentures. That means you’ll still be able to eat and speak with confidence while your dentures are being prepared.
The dental lab will construct your dentures out of high quality materials. Most full dentures are made from plastic composites; while most partial dentures are made of plastics bonded to metal frames. After your dentures are constructed, you will return to our office for a fitting. This gives you peace of mind, knowing that’ll be able to rest easy with a perfect fit.
Implant-Supported Dentures Offers A Secure Fit
If you’re interested in an even more secure fit, you may be a good candidate for implant-supported dentures. A dental implant is a titanium rod which is embedded into your jaw through surgery. These rods act just like your natural tooth roots once they’ve healed.
Implant-supported dentures uses a series of hardware to to allow you to snap your dentures into place. At the end of the day, you can still remove your dentures like normal. Implant-supported dentures free you from worrying about your dentures coming loose, as well as all the headaches which come from dentures slipping.
