There can be any number of reasons you want a cosmetic change to your teeth and why you want it now. Whether you have an upcoming family event like a wedding, a big business meeting or interview, or simply want to feel more confident with your smile without having to wait for weeks, Eugene Family Dental is here to help! We can provide you with one of the quickest, easiest, and most trusted cosmetic procedures: tooth bonding!
What Is Bonding?
Tooth bonding is the use of composite resin to restore the appearance of your teeth. The resin is applied while soft and puttylike and is shaped by the expert hands of Dr. Ben, who can get you a beautiful new look in no time at all!
Bonding is a great solution for patients who don’t want to spend money on expensive veneers, and because bonding doesn’t require any preparation of the teeth, it is a completely reversible procedure!
Bonding is generally used to fix minor cosmetic damage to your teeth, such as chips, cracks, discoloration, and gaps, and it can also be used to change the shape of your teeth. Even better, bonding can be done in about an hour, after which you’ll leave with a great new smile you’re sure to love!
How Does Bonding Work?
After an examination to be sure that bonding is the right procedure for you, we’ll start by finding an exact color match among our composite options. Your teeth are then brushed with a bonding solution to help the composite resin adhere properly.
We’ll then place the appropriate amount of composite onto your tooth, and Dr. Ben will work to shape it to perfectly match your desired results. After getting it into an approximate shape, we’ll use a special light to begin the hardening process.
At first, we’ll only partially harden the resin to allow us to further shape and polish it. Once we’ve created the perfect result, we’ll expose the resin to a final round of hardening and you’ll be all set!
What Can I Expect?
Dental bonding material is excellent at matching the color and look of your natural teeth, so you can expect a great smile that you’ll absolutely love. Even better, bonding takes only about an hour to complete!
Dental bonds can last several years before they need to be replaced but can be damaged early due to chipping from chewing on hard foods. Dental composite isn’t quite as strong as your natural teeth, but we can easily repair or replace a broken or damaged bond.
